But You need to Go solar before December 11
On Jan 1, the state is turning over control of its solar program to the utilities. Kentucky Power is using that authority to eliminate the financial benefits of solar.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Kentucky Power is about to gut the solar program
Right now, solar homes send power to the grid and then use it back later in a tit-for-tat exchange. For systems permitted through the utility next year and beyond, that will change.
Solar power shared back to the grid will be credited at 1/4 the current value. It’ll be a 75% reduction in the value of solar. Solar just won’t be financially viable. Read our blog post, Important Updates for Kentucky, to learn more.
The bottom line, Kentucky Power is planning to raise up rates — and then take away your option to get out and make your own power.

Satisfied Sunminers
I’ve just been really impressed overall. If I needed more information or wanted to change something, the Solar Holler team was always willing to work with me. They were patient and responsive throughout the entire process.

The system works exactly as you designed it, and time has proven you right. We haven’t paid more than a monthly statement fee to the utility company ever since. We love it, we absolutely love it.

We were really impressed by your claim that we wouldn’t pay a penny until it was actually producing power. That was a big sell for us…. Every one of the people who came out to install the system were wonderful…. If you plan to go solar, I can’t think of a better company to use.
