Believe it or not, utility bills are not the easiest documents to understand. Add solar, and it gets even more complicated. As long as everything is humming along, you shouldn’t need to do a deep analysis of every utility statement, but it’s good to have a baseline understanding in case you ever want to compare the figures and especially if you suspect a production or billing error.
Here we explain how to reconcile the production figures you see in your monitoring app with the net metering credits you see on your utility statement.
There will always be minor differences between your utility statement and your monitoring reports. This is due to the fact that Enphase collects data in 24 hour increments while your utility data is based on when your meter was read. The main thing you want to look for is broad trends or glaring anomalies. If the difference is more than 10% off for more than 3 months in a row, get in touch with us for further investigation.
